Ballet - Beginning
This class will emphasize the elementary positions and movements in ballet, while expanding gross motor skills, musicality, direction, awareness of body in space, ballet vocabulary, and peer interactions. Ballet slippers required. Open to girls and boys. Instructor: Jessica Hoage.

Jessica Hoage started dancing when she was 12. She graduated from Western Washington University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in performance and choreography. Jessica has taught ballet, modern, and creative movement for children and enjoys performing, choreography, and teaching dance. She was a member of the Bellingham Repertory Dance Company.

Moving & Grooving
Emphasis will be placed on musical rhythm, beat and time, directions, and individual exploration of body movement. Develop confidence, coordination, and self-esteem. Wear comfortable clothing and plan to dance bare foot. Instructor: Jessica Hoage.

Traci Time has trained and performed in a wide range of dance styles, including: modern, jazz, ballet, hip hop and tap. As an actor, singer, and dancer, Traci has brought her talents to numerous musical theatre productions. Some favorites include: West Side Story, Fiddler on the Roof, Pippin, and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. Traci has been teaching for over 13 years.

Let the Mad Scientist help you discover the amazing properties of chemicals in our new Mad Science Crazy Chem Works Series! Each day the labs will be based on a different theme; Lab Works, pH Phactor, Slime Time, Chem in a Flash, Super Sticky Stuff and Dry Ice Capades.

Selene Robinwitz is a professional artist with a studio in NW Portland. She has a BFA and a MFA in English and a certificate of Fine Arts in Painting. She is a a graduate of the Oregon College of Arts & Crafts with an emphasis on painting and clay. Selene is also a writer with experience in local television, public relations and children’s literature.

Green Judaism: Environmentalism in Jewish Tradition
Environmental awareness and global climate change are key topics today, but nature and the environment have been a central focus of Jewish life and tradition for thousands of years. Explore the importance of nature and conservation in Judaism, as well as how Jewish cultures have interacted with the environment.
Taught by Jonathan Emanuel. Pre-enrollment required 3 days prior to the class.

Jonathan Emanuel is a local Jewish educator and programmer. For over 12 years Mr. Emanuel has worked with adults and children of all ages. In the past, he has served as a youth director, religious school teacher, Israel trip education specialist, summer camp director and a large-scale retreat and teen leadership council coordinator. This past summer, Jonathan coordinated the MJCC Day Camp and is currently an instructor for Jewish elementary and high school students in Portland.

Jews in Hollywood: Film & Jewish American Culture
Stiller, Seinfeld, Sandler, Spielberg. These may be familiar names in Hollywood, but how does their Jewish identity affect American media? Explore modern film and television to discover the rich influence Jews have had on American popular culture. View, listen, debate and discuss film and TV clips and examine the rich history of Jews in Hollywood. Taught by Jonathan Emanuel. Pre-enrollment required 3 days prior to the class.

What Every Teenager Needs to Know About Financing But Doesn’t Want to Hear From their Parents
This is an interactive workshop for teens. Learn about budgeting, how credit works, why a credit score is important and the time value of money. This class is given by Nechama Katan, mother of two teenagers and financial advisor at Waddell & Reed.

Glass Mosaic Workshop
Create your own stepping stone (12 x 12 in.) in this three day workshop. Led by Mark Brody, professional mosaic artist, learn techniques to successfully create your own design. All materials and tools provided. Take home your own beautiful masterpiece at the conclusion of the workshop.
