Annual Fund
Support the MJCC!!
For over 100 years, the Mittleman Jewish Community Center has been the “living room” of Portland’s Jewish Community. In a typical year, 12,000 people come through the doors of the MJCC on a yearly basis, and nearly 4,000 individuals utilize our facilities as members. Membership, program fees and rentals account for approximately 86% of our annual revenue, and we are dependent upon donations and grants to make up the difference.
Gifts of every size are welcome and appreciated. Thank You!
Donate $360 or more and join the Friends of the Center Society!
Here is what your generous tax deductible donation to the MJCC supports:
- Scholarships to benefit seniors on fixed incomes and others in need;
- Arts and cultural programming that puts the “Jewish” in MJCC;
- Our warm water pool which provides therapeutic healing for members who need it most;
- Day Camp scholarships, new equipment in the fitness center, facility upgrades and so much more.
- We are committed to ensuring that no one is ever turned away due to an inability to pay.
Look For Corporate Matching
Many companies offer corporate matching opportunities. If you give to the MJCC, your company may match that and give to the MJCC right along with you! Check with your Human Resources representatives to find out if your company participates!

Legacy Society
Please remember the MJCC in your will, trust, retirement plan or life insurance policy.
What is Planned Giving
Planned giving, sometimes referred to as gift planning, is a way anyone can support the MJCC today, and in the future. By definition, a planned gift is any typically larger gift, made in one’s lifetime or at death, as part of a donor’s overall financial and/or estate planning. Some planned gifts provide a life-long income to you, the donor. Others use estate and tax planning techniques to provide for charity and your heirs in ways that maximize the gift and/or minimize its impact on your estate. Whether you use cash, appreciated securities/stock, real estate, artwork, partnership interests, personal property, life insurance, a retirement plan, etc., the benefits of funding a planned gift can make this type of charitable giving very attractive to both you and the MJCC.
How a planned gift is different from an Annual Fund gift?
Gifts to our annual fund or for membership dues are made from your discretionary income. They may be budgeted for, but they are not planned by philanthropic definition.
Three types of planned gifts
1. Outright gifts that use appreciated assets as a substitute for cash;
2. Gifts that return income or other financial benefits to you in return for your contribution; and
3. Gifts payable upon a donor’s death.
