Stingrays Swim Teams

We have something for everyone ages 5 to 105 (or older!) in our swim team program. Find your swim team home at the J! 

MJCC Stingrays
(USA Swimming team, ages 6-18)

The Stingrays team and waitlist are currently full.  Keep an eye on this page for information on tryouts for new swimmers for Fall 2022!

The Stingrays Swim Team is a fun and challenging way to keep active and build confidence. Swimmers at all levels will work on technique and stamina, goal setting and lifetime fitness habits. As part of USA Swimming, the team will participate in regular meets in the Portland Metro area and swimmers at all levels have the opportunity to compete with swimmers of their own age and ability.

Our swim team tryout consists of swimming 100 yards (four lengths) each of freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke (Silver - our second level - swimmers also need to know some butterfly). Drop-in tryouts are scheduled each fall, but you can also join the team at any time during the season. For a tryout, contact Head Coach Jennie Condon at jcondon@oregonjcc.org with any questions.

Junior Rays (pre-swim team, ages 5+)

The Junior Rays group and waitlist are full.  We do not expect to have space for any more new swimmers until Fall 2022.

Start the transition from lessons to competition for those interested in pursuing swimming as a sport. Focus on technique and learn all four competitive strokes in a team environment. Compete in on-site time trials. Prerequisites: Must be able to confidently swim 25 yards (one length) each of freestyle and backstroke, and take direction in a group of 10 - 12 swimmers from a coach who is usually on-deck.

MJCC Stingrays Masters (USMS team, ages 18+)

Join us for a coached US Masters Swimming group that combines all the best parts of fitness swimming, stroke work, and competition skills practice.  Add great camaraderie and caring, experienced coaches and you have a recipe for success whether your goal is getting in shape, learning a new stroke, or competing in USMS meets.  Swimmers of all levels and backgrounds are welcome! Coached primarily by long-time MJCC swimmer and ASCA Level 4 Coach, Laurie Kilbourn. Main Pool

Masters Swimming

Keep fit and work out with our recreational Masters. This is a low-key and welcoming group. Led by a long-time member volunteer Ronald Cobb.

Our Head Coach

Jennie Condon
Jennie Condon joined the MJCC in early 2011 and started as the Stingrays' assistant coach in the fall of 2012, moving up to the head coach position in 2015. An ASCA Level 2 and USMS Level 1 certified coach, she is a graduate of Hollins University in Virginia and a lifelong swimmer, including swimming competitively in high school and college. Her love of the water has led her to a 20-year career in aquatics. She spends her time outside the pool horseback riding, reading, and checking out new perspectives on the world through her camera lens.
