Bio
Ryan is an ACE certified personal trainer who has been involved in a variety of types of fitness his whole life. His obsession with fitness began over 15 years ago as a competitive soccer and rugby player who was primarily concerned about athletic performance. After tearing his rotator cuff in early college, Ryan completely transformed his approach to fitness and started to focus on functional training with an emphasis in rehabilitation, preventative care, and overall health. Whether you are an average person trying to improve your daily quality of life or an athlete trying to improve your athletic performance, Ryan can help you meet your goals.

Tara Atkinson, Personal Trainer, Yoga Therapist

Bio
Tara is a lifelong athlete who competed in team sports in her school years. As an adult, she has run many age group races, including six marathons and triathlons and has hiked just about every trail within an hour or two of Portland. She entered the professional fitness world as a yoga instructor and later as a yoga therapist. She uses a holistic approach with clients that includes both body and mind. She works with clients to create and achieve specific goals, helping them reach their full potential. Tara is the mother to four sons who are in college and high school. In her spare life she likes to cook, garden, play outdoors, and spend time with family and friends.

Cris Bobu, Personal Trainer

Bio
Cris is a certified personal trainer with the National Academy of Sports Medicine. He has over 10 years of strength training experience with an emphasis in corrective exercise and injury prevention.

Cris works with clients ranging from 12 - 90 years of age and describes his unique approach to strength training as quality being more important than quantity. He combines disciplines, including yoga postures, corrective therapy exercises, plyometric and strength training to maximize results while simultaneously reducing the risk of injury.

Mindfully integrating whole body mechanics, range of motion and functional exercise with Alexander Technique and a sense of ease and joy, she knows anyone can experience well-being and better fitness in their daily activities and life.

Julie, has taught and practiced Alexander Technique for 17 years. Currently, she is pursuing a degree in Exercise Science at PCC with a focus on fitness for older adults. Julie has a passion for helping people who face obstacles like chronic health problems find their individual path to well-being and fitness because she travelled that path herself after a childhood injury. In her free time Julie hikes with her family, gardens and volunteers at her son’s school. She is excited to help you have some serious fun while you get fit!

Bill worked 24 years in the medical field as a Cardiovascular Technologist. He has also worked with clients in post physical therapy rehabilitation. Bill works out four or five times weekly, and likes hiking, biking, snowshoeing and fly fishing.

Bio
Fitness has played a role in Payton’s life since a young age. She participated in many sports including soccer, basketball, and track and field. Soccer has stuck with her to this day. She has always been intrigued by the mechanics of the human body during exercise which helped her pursue her major in college. She set exercise goals for herself and that sparked her interest in wanting to help others achieve their fitness goals as well. She looks forward to being part of a client’s journey in regaining or maintaining a healthy life by helping with weight management, flexibility, strength and power.

Inspired and mentored by athletic coaches from an early age, Alex was surrounded by positive influences to be physically active. His passion, education, and mindset for personal training is about teaching and educating others about how our bodies are designed to be functionally used every day. The biggest reward a personal trainer can experience is seeing the growth physically and mentally in clients and creating the awareness of longevity through exercise. When Alex isn’t training he likes to go
scuba diving, biking, hiking, swimming, and longboarding.

Shantini, also known as "Tini," transitioned from fitness participant to fitness professional in 2013 when she joined the Les Mills tribe with a certification in Body Step (step aerobics). Since 2013, she has obtained additional Les Mills certifications (including BODY PUMP™); Beach Body's Insanity (with the help of Shaun T himself); and ACE national adult and youth group fitness certifications. Group fitness was what inspired her to become a personal trainer and join the amazing personal training team at the MJCC! Her goal as a personal trainer is to not only help clients meet fitness goals and unlock their amazing potential as athletes, but to instill a love of fitness for life. She believes that physical exercise is a tool that participants can use to live a healthier and more fulfilling life. Being a pharmacist, she has encountered patients that are experiencing the negative consequences of an inactive lifestyle. Her dream is to see more clients at the MJCC and less patients at the pharmacy. From kettle bells to dumbbells, or machines to mats; novice to pro; young to mature; she wants to be a part of your fitness journey!

Peter Smith, Personal Trainer

Peter ran track and cross country in high school and competed in local 5k/10k races. In 2009, he competed in his first sprint distance triathlon and won his age group. He has since completed in many races and is working toward his goal of qualifying for the Half Iron Man World Championships. In the course of competing, he has learned a lot about training and has been helping others train along the way. Whether you are working toward completing a race, improving your general fitness, or correcting an issue that causes pain, Peter can help you reach your physical goals. In addition to various kinds of running, biking, and swimming, he enjoys most outdoor activities from hiking to skiing. Peter has played the drums for 20 years and has recorded and played all over the country.

Angie Fisher began her personal pilates practice six years ago to mitigate injuries she sustained from being a life-long athlete, rock climber, and aerial silks practitioner. She quickly became a convert and is eager to share her knowledge with everyone. A firm believer in the mind-body connection, Angie infuses her teaching with humor, enthusiasm and a passion to help others achieve proper alignment and functional movement as well as whole body fitness. Her motto is “Use your muscles, not your momentum!” Join Angie for her dynamic group mat classes or for private reformer sessions where she can personally address your injuries, prehab, or overall fitness with an emphasis on the long and lean lines of a dancer.

Bio
Hilary enjoys time with her family and friends and hiking and travelling. She loves kayaking and Zumba and pretty much any form of exercise that is fun and challenging. Hilary believes in exercising every day, whether it is a class at MJCC or a long walk with the dogs. She also keeps her heart rate up watching her son play ice hockey and her daughter ride horses. Hilary is passionate about cooking healthy and delicious food. You can often find her experimenting in the kitchen with new recipes and ideas.
